About the Gallery

Since 1992 the Gallery has been working with clients near and far to create designs pleasing to the most discerning palettes. Siblings Virginia (Ginny) Lascara and Joe Lascara founded the Gallery in 1992 as a way to blend their respective passions for art and craftsmanship and build upon their combined experiences. From hand painted floor cloths to period frames and antique prints we have the resources and expertise to bring the 18th century to most any establishment or project.

Prior to starting the Gallery Ginny spent 13 years as Associate Curator of Prints and Maps with Colonial Williamsburg Foundation where she developed a vast knowledge of antique maps and botanical prints as well as eighteenth century design. She draws on this museum background in creating historically accurate floor cloths and a variety of historically based products and designs. Ginny was also one the founding partners of Period Designs, a unique business in Yorktown that specialized in period interiors.

Joe applies the skills and experience he gained in the ship repair industry to his impressive woodworking skills and knowledge of 18th Century frames to create pieces of incredible beauty. Joe's exquisite woodworking and design talents are utilized in each handmade frame they produce. His specialties include gilding, hand painted finishes and beautiful original wood creations.

Designers, historians and curators of some of America's finest museums and homes utilize the skill and expertise of the Gallery in their renovations, restorations and projects. You will find the Gallery creations in treasured places like Historic Charleston, Monticello, Montpelier, The John Jay Homestead and Colonial Williamsburg. Producers and period filmmakers for such movies as The Patriot with Mel Gibson and the HBO production John Adams had the gallery provide historically accurate pieces and props for their set designs. Whether a museum interior, historic renovation, set design, or a home decorating project, the Gallery welcomes the challenges of each and looks forward to creating innovative solutions.
